Aloha Kakou, Chris here!
Nearly a decade ago I had the daydream of becoming a student navigator under the stars of Hawai'i. Five years later I remember sitting on the deck of Hokule'a in the middle of the Kaiwi channel. Uncle Nainoa was telling us how important it is to be ready to take up leadership at any given time on the canoe. I sat there in admiration, with a knot in my stomach. Fear of failure and imposter syndrome. Is this all really possible? It is still so intimidating to look out at the open ocean, knowing our responsibility - to keep eachother safe yet to know our place on this planet.
Over the next five years, Akua had blessed my path over Moananuiākea, I am so fortunate to have experienced the ocean so intimately. Even more so, to come home last summer with have Ke'ili and Kalani by my side.
Since that day on the deck of Hokule'a, I slowly started documenting my learnings. Only Akua knew what kind of film would have unfolded from all those gigabytes. Here we are years later; I am proud to announce the upcoming completion of my third feature film, 'A'ā.
To all those reading this, mahalo for tuning in. As a token of gratitude for your support, here is a private premiere of the trailer. Please keep this link private as there are a few more procedures I need to do before publication.
Me ke aloha,
C
